"Helper" Rank

Yeah so since the staff don't want to play on the server, they should make a rank called help who help out on the server only, they can only gag, mute, kick and do reports and that is it, no bans or anything. they don't have access to anything on discord except maybe a helper channel, they aren't considered "staff", they are simply someone who is trusted enough to do reports etc, simply to help out.

Key note: don't give it to randoms, only trusted players who are on and are willing to have the rank.
also when I say trusted I do not mean the rank.

either add a rank like this or get staff on the server lol

I made a post about this quite a while ago but I believe the Trusted role should be given a little more power. Realistically, the !votekick command is absolutely useless because the kicked player can rejoin instantly. If this command was swapped out for !voteban and !kick, I believe that would be a better option.

lonc, asian yourself and limbo all have trusted, pretty sure that is it other than ex staff

ex staff aren't gonna wanna staff the server and aren't active and people like asian, lonc and limbo probs aren't gonna wanna do it either, otherwise they would have applied.

that's why we need willing people like myself who can do reports, they don't have to be "Staff", then just be "helpers"

Can't really merge trusted and helper, or shift trusted into helper, as (im not speaking for everyone) some staff don't really trust trusted's that much with more power than what they have. Basically what you have just described is Trial Moderator, if players are going to go through the etxra effort to deal with reports and whatnot, then they have the ability to at least deal with a few other things, hence: Moderator.

It's not a terrible idea at all, but its just simply one finger's length away from Moderator anyway, you just may as well apply. Staffing the server is generally just RDM Manager anyway.

I had this thought as well but the issue is, all the people that apply tend to stop playing as much. For example, when bailey became full mod, he stopped playing until like 6 months after.
Bacooba only plays like, an hour every second day.
Milk played for like, a week, went inactive then quit

I don't think the issue is inactive staff, the issue is more, staff are inactive at certain hours, anywhere from 12pm to 6pm there are usually no staff on and there is usually 3/4 of a server at that time.

From what I have seen, staff have been more than active & supportive. The problem with this idea is that as mentioned its basically just off being a moderator, both roles need to be applied for. I can't see why someone would want their trusted rank to come with extra responsibilities either as you raised with players like Asian who are more into playing the game (And beating everyone in coin flips....) then monitoring it. Staff are usually very responsive on the Discord server as well, so if no staff are on its generally only a couple of minutes after a request is put through that they are on to fix the issue. There are also other features that help prevent massive issues on the server like the Karma system to prevent mass RDMers and the Mute button for mic spammers. To me its not an issue around staff activity, its more that those players who want to take on extra responsibility and are active to apply for these positions to support the server. -1 From me sorry.

Giving trusted players a helper role will not fix anything. because there simply isn't enough trusted players that we can give power too.

The better fix is more regulars applying for staff and receiving training.

Just giving players power will result in other issues not related to staff inactivity.

TLDR:

The best solution to this is regulars becoming staff. More staff better staff activity.
